Easy Fundraising Ideas for College

Fundraisers are a natural part of a social college life. You may need to raise money at some point, maybe for a sorority, fraternity, glee club or other group. Whether the funds are going toward a trip to France, an annual formal dance or for children with Autism, raising the money doesn't have to be difficult.
  1. Car Wash

    • Organize a local car wash. Fundraiser Insight recommends that you hold the car wash at a location with a source of water that is near a busy road, such as a school, gas station or church. Gather your hoses, buckets, sponges, towels and plenty of soap. Hang signs for the car wash all over town and advertise the event in your local newspapers.

    Battle of the Bands

    • If your group is trying to raise money to support a cause, organize an all-day "Battle of the Bands." Talk to your college about an on-campus location with a stage that your group could use. Charge the bands an entrance fee, charge for tickets, sell T-shirts at the event and sell food to raise the money you need.

    Valentine's Day

    • Take advantage of Valentine's Day or other holidays, such as Christmas and Halloween, by selling holiday-themed flowers in the college's student center or in the dining halls. Carnations are inexpensive if you buy them in bulk. Sell the flowers for a week leading up to the holiday and make sure they include a card with space for the giver to write a message to the recipient. You can even set up a delivery service where members of your group deliver the flowers to the recipient's dorm room on the morning of the holiday.

    Christmas Caroling

    • If you are the member of the local a cappella group or glee club, gather during the holiday season to go caroling around your college's surrounding neighborhood. Make fliers explaining your group's purpose with a note that donations are optional but appreciated.

    Bake Sale

    • If a member of your group has their own kitchen, get together to bake cookies and brownies to sell at your bake sale. Most student associations allow registered student groups to set up a table at designated spots around campus. Use this opportunity to sell yummy treats to a hungry student body and inform people about your cause.
