Paint the walls of a boys' locker room a pale blue or grey. You want a calming color so the players can relax before or after a game. Paint a basketball goal on one wall. Attach a real hoop in front of the goal so the boys can practice shots during down time. Make a banner to hang that says "Go Team," one that has the name of the boys' basketball team or says something inspirational such as "You are champions."
Decorate the boys' lockers by painting them in team colors. Use stencils to paint the name and number of each player on to each locker. Hang up magazine articles and photos about basketball or famous basketball players on the inside of the lockers.
Provide a large chalkboard or whiteboard with erasers for coaches and players to plan out basketball plays. Draw a large basketball court floor lay out and two large half courts on the chalk or whiteboard to plan out game moves. Alternatively, paint one wall in the locker room with chalkboard paint and use the entire wall for game-play strategies and reminders of game dates and practices.
Display items in the locker room that are related to basketball such as vintage pennants, framed team photos, a basketball clock or a collection of basketballs. Paint an image of the school mascot on the floor of the locker room. Alternatively, use round area rugs that look like large basketballs on the floor.
