Cover a wall of the classroom with white paper. Draw streets, railroads and water on the bottom half. Use the top half of the scene as the sky. Glue die-cut cars, trucks, trains, boats and airplanes on the mural. Alternatively, stencil or draw freehand vehicles, cut out and place on the mural.
Decorate a bulletin board with various forms of transportation. These could include cars, trucks, taxis, buses, motorcycles, airplanes, boats and trains. Take pictures of each student in the class. Put one child's picture into each vehicle as the driver. Label the board with the word "Transportation."
Create traffic signs and traffic lights out of poster board or cardboard. Stencil or draw each pattern onto the cardboard. Paint the sign or traffic light and add wording such as "stop" or "yield" if necessary. Cut out and hang from the ceiling of the room.
Post maps of all kinds on the walls. Use these for instructional purposes as well as for classroom decoration.
Collect old license plates from family and friends. Hang them as a border across the top of the walls in the classroom.
Leave one wall open to display student's transportation themed artwork. Label the wall "Our Transportation Creations" or "Planes, Trains and Automobiles."
