How to Decorate High School Lockers for Volleyball

A great way to show school spirit and at the same time show support for the volleyball team is to decorate the lockers of the volleyball players prior to the beginning of the season or before each game. Decorations need to be inexpensive as they will likely only be used once and they need to be simple enough to make quickly. These decorations can be completed with a few standard art supplies and minimal time.

  • Scissors
  • Markers in school colors
  • Poster board
  • Glitter in school colors

Instructions

    • 1

Cut circles 6 inches in diameter from the poster board. You will need enough circles for each player and alternate on the team.

    • 2

Draw the lines of a volleyball on a circle. Go over each line with glue and then sprinkle glitter over the glue. Set aside and allow to dry overnight on a flat surface. Repeat for all circles alternating the color of glitter you use. If you don't have time for the overnight, try using gel pens or gel markers instead of glue and glitter.

    • 3

Write the name or nickname of a player in pencil on one of the volleyballs. Once you are satisfied with the penmanship, trace over the pencil in a marker. The marker color should be the opposite of the color of the glitter. For example, if your school colors are blue and orange and you used blue glitter you would use an orange marker. Repeat for all volleyballs.

    • 4

Punch a hole in the bottom of the volleyball using the one hole punch. Cut three 12-inch strands of curling ribbon in each of the school colors. Thread them through the hole and tie in a knot. Curl the ribbon. Repeat for all volleyballs.

    • 5

Roll masking tape or clear tape into a loop. This will create a double-sided tape that will hold the volleyballs on the lockers but that will not be hard for the custodians to remove, unlike true double-sided tape. Place several of these loops on a volleyball and hang it on the appropriate locker. Repeat for all volleyballs.
