Ask each child to stand against a blank background, such as a bare wall, in a well lit area. Take a clear digital photo of the child's face, being sure the shoot from the shoulders upwards. Import the photos to the computer that will be used to design the final ID cards.
Open a graphics program, such as Microsoft Publisher, on the computer. Select a blank business card template and begin adding elements like color and graphics to create an image for your homeschool. You may also choose to use an ID card template available from an on-line homeschooling resource. Import each child's photo into the ID card so that it is large enough to easily recognize the child.
Add text to the ID card that identifies the card as a homeschool identification card. List the child's name, parent or teacher's name and a contact phone number for their parents or homeschool instructors. List any allergies or medical alerts on the card as well for children who are at risk of medical emergency. Common conditions to list include asthma, Diabetes, epilepsy and nut allergies.
Print the completed card on a high quality card stock using a color printer. Cut the cards down to size using scissors or a paper cutter. Take the completed cards to a local print shop to be professionally laminated, which will help make the cards durable.
