How to Create a Work's Cited Page for a Textbook

Citing your sources, be they from a textbook or otherwise, allows you to use other people’s work without plagiarizing their material. Plagiarizing is the unethical practice of presenting someone’s work as your own. Most academic papers, reports or articles have a works cited page referencing source material. The formats followed are usually MLA style, created by the Modern Language Association, or APA style, from the American Psychological Association. Publications dealing with business, social sciences or the humanities often use the Chicago Manual of Style. Before creating a works cited page, you should have a clear understanding of the kind of style required or preferred. Prepare your paper by centering the title, either “works cited” or “references,” and double space your lines. List your citations alphabetically by the last name of the author.
