List of Accredited Distance Learning Institutions

As of 2011, about 120 educational institutions are accredited by the Distance Education Training Council for programs ranging from independent high-school study to law school, offering degrees in many academic majors or vocational training for one specific technical field. Some specialized institutions, and some programs of the general institutions, are also accredited by organizations in their fields or by regional accrediting bodies. Accreditation by the DETC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for post-secondary training, so students in the after-high-school programs are eligible for the federal financial assistance programs known as Title IV. About 30 other recognized accrediting agencies also evaluate distance-learning programs.
