The European Council of International Schools (ECIS) offers an International Teacher Certificate through the University of Cambridge International Examinations. Designed for current teachers who wish to take on a global specialization, the program lasts 14 months. It includes three days of workshops hosted by partner schools. Program students will also receive a personalized research and school-based practice, in which they are aided by the ITC Virtual Learning Environment or VLE.
The VLE offers forums, courses and orientations. Students also have an ITC mentor and will be assessed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. Upon completion, successful graduates will receive an ECIS International Teacher Certificate.

According to the school's website, it is the world's oldest provider of distance and online learning degrees. As of 2010, there are more than 45,000 international students enrolled in more than 100 programs.
The University of London prides itself on offering distance learning programs of the same high caliber as those offered at the main campus. Students may work toward an undergraduate or graduate diploma, certificate courses or other learning programs. Scotland's University of Dundee offers distance learning programs in Scottish History. There are two programs, each of which are 60 credit hours. The first, Medieval and Early Modern Scotland covers the years 1100-1707, while the second program, Modern Scottish History, covers the years 1707 to present day.
According to the university website, this program was developed with the help of premier Scottish historians from all over the world and offers honors-level classes. Students work with a tutor who then reviews assignments and offers assistance throughout the program as needed. The University of Dundee also provides optional on-campus study days during the program so students have the opportunity to meet with their tutors face-to-face as well as meet other students.
Work is done via the Internet, and students are advised to devote a minimum of 14 hours per week to their studies. Program hours may be transferred to a degree.
