Rob Roy Academy offers training programs for cosmetology, barbers/stylists, esthetics, manicuring and instructor training. The cosmetology program will teach students how to cut, color and style hair, as well as perform facials, manicures, pedicures, and makeup application on their clients. Students will be immersed in the beauty culture as they learn the latest tips and trends. The Academy also offers a program in barbering and styling. Students will begin the program by practicing their work on mannequins and fellow classmates, then graduate to working on actual clients in the school's salon. The cosmetology program is guided and taught by licensed professionals. In addition to the campus located in Worcester, the Academy has three other Massachusetts locations in Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton, and one location in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
Spa Tech Institute offers programs for those interested in cosmetology, massage, esthetics and polarity therapy. The cosmetology program will prepare future stylists to become adept in hair cutting, hair coloring, hair styling and design, manicuring, scalp and hair treatments, and all aspects of sanitation and sterilization. The Institute also encourages students to develop their people skills to help them provide their clients with positive experiences. Furthermore, students will learn about becoming salon managers and owners, product salespersons or cosmetology instructors. In addition to the Westboro location, Spa Tech Institute has two other Massachusetts locations in Ipswich and Plymouth, and one location in Westbrook/Portland, Maine.
The Assabet Valley Center for Continuing Education offers a cosmetology program for adults. As of 2011, classes are held in the evenings from Monday through Thursday each week. While enrolled, students will learn how to cut, color and style hair, and perform facials and manicures on their clients. Students will begin their coursework by practicing on mannequins and then working on clients in the school's salon. The cosmetology program is intended to prepare students for a variety of careers in the beauty industry, including hair stylists, salon owners or managers, cosmetics buyers, makeup artists or beauty school teachers. The Assabet Valley Technical High School, which is home of the Center for Continuing Education, also offers a cosmetology program for high school students.
Located in Marlbourough, Cosmix School of Beauty Sciences offers cosmetology and nail technician programs. In the cosmetology program, students will learn how to cut, style and color hair, how to perform facials and manicures, sanitation procedures and how to present themselves as professionals. Cosmix provides students with the opportunity to participate in hair shows and contests. Instructors place emphasis on student creativity. The cosmetology program takes between eight and 32 months to complete, depending on full-time, part-time or evening only attendance.
