Spring inspires people to get outside, so plan a display with the topic "Let's Get Moving." Fill it with books on outdoor activities like walking, sailing, rollerblading, hiking and horseback riding.
Set up a display called "Famous Faces" featuring biographies of people born in May. Include celebrity bios, but if you want to include biographies of lesser-known people, use the slogan, "Real People."
Catch the attention of teens and their parents with the topic, "It's Not Easy Being a Teen." Include books on teen interests, issues and raising a teenager.
For a small display rack or a tabletop display, use a sign that says,"Today's Featured Author." Every few days, or when the selection gets skimpy, switch to another author. Stay away from blockbuster authors for this kind of display and instead call attention to lesser-known writers.
Tap into all the publicity for Mother's Day. Make a display sign saying "Moms Are Special" or "All About Mothers." Search your catalog for titles with the word "mother" or "mom" in them. You'll find books in many different sections of the library to fill the display.
May is Latino Books Month, a perfect time to feature fiction, poetry and biographies by Hispanic authors.
