Unfold and press the fabric so that any wrinkles or seams are removed. Lay the fabric flat on your work surface. Next, open the drawing book and place it with pages down on top of the fabric. Use a ruler to measure 1 inch out from the edge of the book and draw a small dot every few inches all around the opened book's edge. Lay the ruler parallel with the book and up against the edge where the dots were marked. Draw a straight line parallel with each side of the book on all four sides. Remove the book and cut the material along the lines.
Place the material wrong side up. Cut fusible webbing to match the size of the material and iron on. Allow it to cool and then peel the paper from the fusible webbing. You should have a sticky wrong side now. Carefully place the sticky side down onto the outside cover of the drawing book. Start with the front cover's right top and work your way in, pressing out any wrinkles with your fingertips as you smooth the fabric. Once you are happy with the positioning, go back over the entire surface, pressing it down firmly.
Flip the book so that the inside pages face up. You should have about an inch of spare material all the way around. Turn all the pages to the right side of the book and finish the left inside cover by wrapping the left vertical side over and pressing firmly and then the top and bottom. You will need to create a small triangular fold as you press down the top and bottom material. Move all the pages to the left side and repeat the process with the back cover.
Spread the white glue and varnish mixture, which is available at craft stores, evenly onto the front and binding of the finished cover. Allow to dry until stiff to the touch and then flip over and cover the back cover with the mixture. Repeat if you desire a harder, stiffer fabric.
