How to Make a Toga for College

The toga has become symbolic of the college experience for many students at universities throughout the world. Whether you desire your toga to be uniquely representative of you and your character or if you are more interested in the simple, yet eloquent portrayal of an ancient Roman senator, it is important that your toga fits you properly. A simple toga can be arranged within minutes and requires very little effort and resources.

Things You'll Need

  • 12 to 18 feet by 5 feet fabric
  • 3 to 5 safety pins
  • Shorts

Instructions

  1. The Design

    • 1

      Fold the fabric lengthwise in half. This should make the fabric 12 to 18 feet by 2 feet 6 inches.

      Pin one end of the folded fabric to one side of the waist of your shorts.

      Wrap the fabric around your waist at least once. The folded (2 feet 6 inches) fabric should should hang from your waist to approximately your knees.

      Pin the fabric to either the right or left side of your shorts at the waist. This can be pinned on either side regardless of where your first pin was placed.

      Drape the remaining length of fabric across your chest and over your shoulder. Let the fabric fall down your back.

      Pin the remaining fabric to the waist of your shorts on the opposite side of where the fabric is draped over your shoulder.
