Write a variety of poetry to include in your book. Try to vary your style and include such poems as haikus or limericks.
Select at least 10 of your favorite poems to include in the book. Add as many more poems as you like.
Type each poem on your computer using a word processing program. Choose a font and style to use throughout your entire book. Print them out using your home printer or one at your school.
Add illustrations to your poetry to enhance the writing. Use colored pencils for a subtle effect when coloring over the text of the poems.
Arrange your poems in any logical order you choose and create a table of contents. You might group your poems together by type or subject matter.
Create a title page with the name of your poetry book. Use a simple title, for example, "My Poetry Book," or select the title of your favorite poem included in your poetry collection.
Place your title page, table of contents and poems in page protectors to keep them safe in your poetry book. These help preserve the pages for years to come.
Put your title page, table of contents and selected poetry, in that order, into a binder. The number of poems you select will determine the thickness of your binder. Decorate the cover of the binder using paint pens or glitter glue. Glue any other embellishments purchased at your local craft store to the cover. Write the title of your book somewhere on the front of the binder cover.
Present your poetry book at school. Show the class the cover and choose at least one poem to read to your classmates or teacher.
