Determine the testing location where you took your GED exam. Unfortunately there is not a main location that your GED goes when you pass the exam. Therefore you must contact the original location. You can locate the original testing site by using Google to search for the testing site, using Yellowpages.com, your local Yellow Pages book, or any online business search. If you passed your GED test while you were in a correctional institution, the military, or job corps you will have to go through the American Council on Education to find your GED and pay a fee of $14 for the transcript, as of early 2010.
Prepare certified verification documentation to submit for proof of your identity. Your GED is an official document that can only be issued to the authorized owner. Therefore you must have some form of identification to find a GED. Unfortunately, a testing center is not going to freely issue information on a student who has taken a GED if he has not verified his identity. Two forms of ID can include a driver's license, Social Security card or any state-issued ID.
Contact the testing center to verify they have your GED. Unfortunately, institutions can change names and locations. Therefore it is important to verify the testing center has your GED in its possession. If not, they will have information on where you can locate it. If you would like to have your GED mailed to you, be prepared to either send a self-addressed stamped envelope, or pay a fee to have it reprinted and mailed.
