Harper College offers an associate program that meets the requirements for a dietetic technician degree. The program takes two years, and it has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). Students must fulfill a minimum of 62 credit hours to graduate. Graduates can become registered dietitian technicians by taking a national examination. Prospective students are advised to take communication, math and science courses in preparation for the program.

JWCC offers certificate programs in dietary management; coursework includes 120 hours of theory and 408 hours of practical experience under the supervision of qualified instructors or preceptors. Prerequisites for the program include: problem solving and planning skills; effective communication skills; being able to multi-task; and having a team orientation. Students are required to take courses including applied food service sanitation, nutritional care and management of food services. Upon completion of the program, students can become certified as dietary managers and certified food protection professionals.

Located in Springfield, Illinois, Lincoln Land Community College offers a variety of occupational associate programs in the fields of business and administrative services, industrial and engineering technology, health care, agriculture and natural resources, human and family services, and arts and communication. High school students are eligible to enroll in these programs and earn college credits. The certificate programs in dietary management and for dietetic technicians at LLCC provide students with a solid foundation in science and practical skills that are relevant to health care services. LLCC offers scholarships through its honors program to students who are registered in specific fields of study. Associate degree programs at LLC generally require two years to complete.
