Student Grants for Massage Therapy

Students looking for help paying for massage therapy training should consider applying for student grants for massage therapy. Massage therapy training costs can range from $5,000 and $10,000, depending upon the school. There are a variety of massage therapy grants available for students. Some massage therapy grants are offered by private foundations, while others are offered by massage therapy schools or the government.
  1. Private Foundation Student Grants for Massage Therapy

    • The Spa Foundation provides student grants of up to $9,000 to help pay for massage therapy training. The grant involves a package for students arranging for professional coaching, self-help training, and financial management education. As part of the grant contract, students complete additional education requirements and submit a report for their research project.

The Jeanette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund provides grants and scholarships reaching $2,000 to women over the age of 35 who are preparing to enter a vocational training program, including massage therapy training. Students must be a U.S. citizen, enrolled in or accepted to a school accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and meet low-income requirements.

Student Grants From Massage Therapy Schools

    • Some massage therapy schools provide student grants directly to students enrolled in their training programs. The Center for Massage & Natural Health in Asheville, North Carolina offers $500 tuition scholarships for students who attend an annual Career Day event, which offers tours and information about enrollment and careers in massage therapy.

Massage therapy students at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota may qualify for Healy Family Memorial Scholarship Fund grants of up to $1,000. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA, be involved in community service and leadership, and submit a faculty recommendation form.

At the North Country Community College Massage Therapy Program of New York, $500 student grants for massage therapy are offered for new and returning students. Students must demonstrate excellence and understanding of massage and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Applications must include information about future goals, financial aid and high school transcript release statements and contact information for three references.

Government Grants for Massage Therapy Students

    • While there are not government grant packages designed specifically for massage therapy students, they should be considered an important component of any overall financial aid package because of broad availability. By completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) massage therapy students may qualify for a number of government-issued grants including the Federal Pell Grant, which is $5,550 per year. Students must check to see if their chosen training institution qualifies them for government grants.
