    Southern University of Shreveport

    • Opened to the public in September of 1967, the Southern University of Shreveport is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It offers courses in business, humanities, natural sciences and medicine. The dental hygiene program offered by the Southern University of Shreveport hands out an Associate of Applied Science degree to all students that complete this intensive course. This dental program instructs its students on the proper way to clean a patient's molars and how to fill a patient's cavities using the latest modern techniques and equipment while training in the classroom environment. Students will also be trained on how to assist the dentist in performing dental cleaning techniques and minor orthodontic surgeries.

    University of Louisiana at Lafayette

    • Containing the largest campus featured in the eight Louisiana state university system of colleges, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was first founded in 1898 as an industrial institute. Offering courses in visual arts, music, biological sciences and nursing, this university also provides its graduating dental hygiene students with a bachelor of science degree.
