Colleges within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) system offer food safety manager classes in the fall, spring and summer semesters. Students interested in ServSafe's food safety manager credential can register for HRI 158, Safety and Sanitation, at J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, Central Virginia Community College, Tidewater Community College, Northern Virginia Community College and Rappahannock Community College. Tuition rates vary depending on the college.
The Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association (VHTA) provides ServSafe food safety manager training and a certificate in one day. Courses are offered throughout the state five times a year and include a textbook, exam and refreshments. As of 2010, the food safety manager day-long course costs $119 for VHTA members and $169 for non-members.
Paster Training provides ServSafe food safety manager training at job sites and testing centers throughout the state of Virginia. Anyone interested registering for classes must call Paster Training to speak with a representative about training programs located near their area. As of 2010, Paster Training ServSafe food safety manager courses range from $145 to $275 depending on course duration and whether participants purchase current books and exam passes.
