Decide what kind of flying lessons you want. Do you want a one-time lesson to see what it's like or do you want to get your private's pilot license? Or do you want to try a simulation on the ground?
Arrange your finances. If you are hoping to get your private pilot's license, you will need between $5000 and $9000 to cover both ground school and flight school and solo time. A one hour lesson will cost between $120-$150, depending on where you go in the area. Flight simulator training on the ground will cost $75 and a copy of Microsoft's Flight Simulator for your computer will cost around $30. All prices are accurate as of August, 2010.
Get a check up. People studying for pilot's licenses must be at least 16 and healthy. Your flight school (see below) will have a list of local doctors that are approved by the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) to give physicals to pilots and potential pilots.
Choose your flight school. You'll want to think about price, location and scheduling. You may want to call or visit several before deciding.
