Contact the Ohio Department of Education to find a testing center near you. Take note of the testing center's phone number, location and dates and times of operation.
Keep in mind that you must be at least 19 years old; however, there are exceptions. Teens who are at least 16 may take the test if they have been legally emancipated. Contact the testing center to determine whether or not you are eligible to take the GED test.
Study. Practice tests can be found online or at testing centers. Some testing centers offer preparation classes at no cost. For the Ohio GED test, there are five different subject areas in which an individual is scored. This includes language arts, writing, reading, social studies and mathematics. Language arts and writing are multiple-choice and essay questions. Reading, science and social studies are all multiple choice. Math has two sections, one where a calculator may be used and a second where you must work your problems out by hand.
Register at the local testing center and schedule an appointment to take the test. As of June 2010, in Ohio the fee for the GED exam is $55.00 and sometimes the test is done over a period of two days. Three tests are taken one day and the other two are taken the next depending on the allotted time range given.
Wait for your results. Results for the GED test are sent through the mail. You will receive your scores, and if you passed, your GED diploma. If you fail, you may retake the entire test or only the failed section. You may only take the test three times per calendar year.
