    American Winds Flight Academy

    • American Winds Flight Academy is in Akron. It features a wide variety of programs for flight school. Starting in the 1980s as an aerobatic flight school, the Flight Academy is now a full-service training facility for both hobby and career pilots. The academy is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an approved Part 141 flight school and can qualify pilots to receive a private pilot license, advanced training or commercial pilot license. Other awards include the accreditation by the Department of Education through the Council for Continuing Education and Training. Features at the school include a fast-track training program, multi-engine time building course, ground school and advanced avionics. The academy is also affiliated with Utah Valley University's aviation program, which enables participants to use their educational experiences at the academy to count toward college credit.

    Zone Aviation

    • Zone Aviation is about 30 miles west of Cleveland and is the only Cessna Pilot Center in Northeast Ohio. Features include an accelerated training program that will enable you to reach FAA certification as a private pilot within weeks, depending on which program you enroll in. It also offers a Sport Pilot Certificate, which does not require the same standards as the private pilot certificate.
