The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is a fine arts and design school Providence, Rhode Island. The school is located adjacent to Brown University, with which RISD shares many academic, social and community functions. RISD's Jewelry and Metalsmithing program teaches students about traditional goldsmithing as well as contemporary forms of art in the jewelry design field. \"Unconventional departures\" are encouraged at RISD, as students are mentored to pursue their own creative niches while utilizing creative thinking skills and exploring the \"inherent relationship of jewelry to the body.\" RISD also gives students the opportunity to make regular contact with jewelry design professionals, and offers assistance with job placement and professional internships.

The Jewelry Arts and Design College offers an extensive program with many levels of jewelry design. The college offers a 24-week gemologist diploma program that prepares students for entry level design work as well as retail, management or appraisal. The jewelry design program follows a 12-week curriculum that covers aspects of jewelry design ranging from the design and brainstorming process to different ways to illustrate and showcase sketches for making sales. Other courses of study include wax casting and mold making techniques, vacuum casting, metallic arts, inlaying and etching. The Jewelry Arts and Design College does not have any on-campus housing. Each faculty member has professional experience in jewelry design and other related businesses.

The American School of Jewelry is located in Sunrise, Florida, and offers many advanced classes in jewelry making and design. There are programs to receive certification as a bench jeweler, jewelry designer or master jeweler. The school prepares students for multiple professional career levels in the jewelry design field. The American School of Jewelry also features courses in Computer Assisted Design (CAD), which has quickly become a staple of modern technology in the jewelry design field. There are courses on working with platinum, stone setting, wax design and casting, diamond grading and setting up an online jewelry store. There are also evening classes on CAD and jewelry design that meet once a week. Tuition varies for each individual course or certificate program.
