Top Grad Schools for Architecture

Architectural graduate schools grant candidates their first professional degrees. A good graduate program should further design research and emphasize the role of architects in culture and society. Architectural Record magazine lists the top graduate programs annually, using factors such as occupational preparedness, graduation retention, internship opportunities and curriculum rigor to rank them. Simply put, top architecture schools not only provide students with professional skills but enable them to enter the profession with ease.
  1. Columbia University

    • Columbia University's School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation provides five graduate degree programs--master of architecture I, master of science in advanced research, master of science in conceptual practices, master of science in advanced design and doctor of architecture design. Students with limited academic design experience learn about design in the context of the built environment within the three-year professional program. It includes three specializations: theory, design and technological application and is studio based, providing students with the resources to apply technology to their studies.
