NICET offers Levels I-IV certifications in fire alarm systems. To obtain Level III certification a candidate must prove he has sufficient work experience and a minimum of five years work experience directly relating to fire alarm systems.
Included in the Level III certification requirements is the successful completion of written exams based on advanced work skills expected of engineers with more than five years of experience in fire alarms. Candidates must complete all core exams, based on the basic knowledge expected of all fire alarm engineers and six exams, two each, are required from the Levels I, II and III certifications.
NICET Level III certification candidates must provide a letter of personal recommendation completed by a qualified fire alarm industry professional. Qualified individuals include NICET Level IV engineers and graduates of a four-year degree program. The recommender must have knowledge of the candidate's technical abilities and professional character.
