The BLS notes that the employment outlook for HVAC techs is expected to increase by some 28 percent through the year 2018. Prospects are especially good for techs who have completed formal training and certification programs, especially in the area of energy efficiency and installing HVACR systems. In May 2008, the median hourly wage for HVAC techs was $19.08.
