The green HVAC/R technician exam has 25 questions. You need to correctly answer 84 percent of the questions--21--to pass. It is an open-book exam with a three-hour time limit.
The initial cost of the exam is $24.95, as of August 2010. If you do not pass the first time, each subsequent sitting costs $5.95.
Getting certified as a green HVAC technician allows you to offer customers green products and services. A green certified technician is also aware of the economic incentives associated with going green and can discuss these with customers.
Only HVAC technicians who are EPA 608-certified can get a green HVAC/R certificate.
