HVAC Green Certification

The heating, ventilating and air conditioning, or HVAC, green certification equips a technician with the knowledge and skills related to providing more environmentally conscious services. According to EPA Test, the HVAC green certification exam can be taken as many times as necessary.
  1. Format

    • The green HVAC/R technician exam has 25 questions. You need to correctly answer 84 percent of the questions--21--to pass. It is an open-book exam with a three-hour time limit.

    Costs

    • The initial cost of the exam is $24.95, as of August 2010. If you do not pass the first time, each subsequent sitting costs $5.95.

    Benefits

    • Getting certified as a green HVAC technician allows you to offer customers green products and services. A green certified technician is also aware of the economic incentives associated with going green and can discuss these with customers.

    Restrictions

    • Only HVAC technicians who are EPA 608-certified can get a green HVAC/R certificate.
