Established in 1987, Cumberland Institute is Tennessee's oldest school of holistic massage therapy. Students may schedule courses around their work and family schedule, combining day, evening and weekend classes. Full-time students can complete their education on the 15-month fast-track program, or may take 18 to 24 months to complete their training. As of June 2010, 100 percent of Cumberland graduates were employed in the field within one year of graduation.
Genesis Career College offers students a nine-month massage therapy training program. Students begin learning hands-on massage techniques during the first week of courses. In addition to anatomy and physiology and deep, light and pressure point techniques, students receive instruction in various modalities, including myofacial, stone and prenatal massage, and aromatherapy. Genesis assists students in finding and applying for state and federal financial aid.
Miller-Motte has a 75-year history of preparing students for career success and is accredited by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and the Council of Independent College and Schools. The massage therapy associate's degree program covers all types of massage and bodywork as well as spa therapy. Miller-Motte offers graduates a combination of graduation seminars and individual counseling to help them find career opportunities.
Southeastern Institute, formerly Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage, is accredited by the Tennessee Board of Massage. southeastern provides hands-on education taught by experts with extensive experience in their field. Students at Southeastern Institute take the required coursework and gain experience working with clients in the student massage clinic. Graduates have access to job placement counseling and the online career services center.
