Double-check that you are qualified to run for president. Your sorority should have official paperwork that describes the criteria for being a presidential candidate. Often, you will be required to have previously held an office within the sorority and be an upperclassman -- a junior or senior-level student. If you meet all the criteria, then you can run.
Submit all the paperwork required to officially register yourself as a candidate for president. Again, it may be necessary to consult your sorority's official paperwork regarding this.
Tell the girls you are running and let them know why you want to be president. Get them excited about your campaign and your ideas for the sorority. If you intend to improve the sorority's relationship with the community by having the girls volunteer at a local soup kitchen, or adopt a stretch of highway to keep clean of litter and plant bright flowers -- then let them know. As president, you are responsible for the level of social and political activity required of your sisters. Activities you organize may include fundraisers, big-sister mentoring services, inviting speakers to campus, making repairs and remodels to the sorority house, and challenging other sororities to softball games, races, or fashion shows.
Perform all the required actions needed to run for president. This may include giving many formal speeches. Expect to put together a PowerPoint presentation that will illustrate your ideas for the future of your sorority and give the sisters an idea of what life with you as president will be like. Running for president may also require performing certain physical tasks particular to your sorority. Each sorority has its own rules and rituals. Candidates may be expected to wear certain colors or articles of clothing, say grace for every meal, or partake in singing and dancing.
Attend every presidential election-related meeting, debate, and discussion. Be prepared to talk, give speeches, and share your ideas for the sorority. Remember, you will be in direct competition with other girls, and the sisters will be comparing you with other candidates -- so always be confident and prepared. As president, you will be in charge of moderating all future meetings, discussions, and events -- so the sooner you get comfortable with speaking and having others listen and respond to your words, the better.
Create any campaign literature, posters, buttons, flags, signs or other things that you feel are necessary for your campaign. If you can get the girls excited about your campaign and inspired by your ideas, they will be more likely to vote for you.
