Set a date and time for the pageant. Discuss the date and time with the proper administrators.
Notify parents, fellow teachers and administrators about the pageant. Create fliers and hang them up around the school, put them in teacher and administrator mailboxes and send them home to parents.
Create props for the pageant. Enlist the help of students and parents to create the props. Have the props completed at least one week in advance of the pageant.
Decorate the location where the pageant will be held with the props. Enlist the help of parents and faculty to set up the props.
Ask parents to create costumes for their children. Offer examples of items that can be used to create inexpensive costumes. For example, for a cat costume, a parent can glue triangle felt cut outs to a headband and stuff a leg of black tights with cotton for a tail.
Reserve time during each school day to rehearse with students in the classroom. In the week leading up to the performance, take students to the area where the pageant will be for dress rehearsals.
Stand by with the script of the pageant to provide lines to students who may suddenly draw a blank.
