How to Write a Letter for Sorority Recruitment

A letter of intent is needed for most sororities. It explains why you are requesting membership and what you have to offer as a member. Though putting the letter together can cause anxiety, with a little organization, time and patience, you will have that letter done in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a brainstorming list. Write down some of your accomplishments, skills and activities to use in your sorority interest letter. Research the sorority and read their history. What do they care most about? What are their core values and goals for the future of their organization?

    • 2

In the introduction of your letter, state why you are seeking to join their sorority. Be as detailed as you can. Show that you know something about their sorority by discussing their values and achievements.

    • 3

Begin your second paragraph by stating your personal and academic achievements. Include any information about special skills you possess including any relevant leadership skills. Discuss any family members who were members of the sorority. Legacies are important to most college chapters.

    • 4

Begin your third paragraph by discussing any community service involvement, hobbies and activities in which you actively partake. Especially make sure to list any activities in which the sorority participates. Mention career goals if it seems relevant to the sorority.

    • 5

End your letter by thanking them for their time and consideration. Make sure to sign your name directly above your typed name in black ink.
