Contact the national office of the sorority in question. If you don't have a national contact, the local chapter will be able to provide you with contact information at the national level for the sorority.
Download the licensing application from the organization's website Some sororities will have an application available directly. In other cases, a generic application is available from legal consulting organizations such as Greek Licensing. The application should include authorized versions of the sorority's logos.
Submit the application with sample of each of the proposed products that feature the legally trademarked logo after having the contract reviewed by legal representation. The sorority's national office will want to review the manner in which its logos will be used before issuing authorization to manufacture and market products. Additionally, the sorority will likely require a commission be paid to the organization from the sale of all products. The application is also a legally binding contract. These factors should be taken into consideration and be thoroughly understood when preparing a profitability plan and pitching products to the national sorority.
Prepare a separate application for each organization. When company officials have a line of products that they want to make for a number of different sororities, they must approach each sorority separately and secure licenses from each organization. While the requirements are similar across the Greek community, sororities may have unique requirements that must also be met.
Another approach for entrepreneurs who have an idea for a new product is to contact a vendor or manufacturer that already has licensing agreements. It might make sense for a sales organization to obtain products from a licensed source, so its workers can focus their efforts on sales and marketing.
