Things to Bring for Students at Morgan State University

Morgan State University is in Baltimore, Maryland and was founded in 1867. The state has designated it a Maryland Public Urban University and roughly 65 percent of students enrolled at the school come from Maryland. Morgan State is the destination for many African-American students from Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, giving it recognition across the United States. If you're planning to attend Morgan State University, as with any post-secondary institution, there are numerous things for you to take with you.
  1. Computer

    • Today, no university student can get through a program of study without a computer. While you may be able to use Morgan State's computer labs, it is convenient and helpful to have your own computer in your residence dorm room. Each room has a campus network access port, but you'll need to bring your own computer (laptop or desktop) along with a printer, keyboard, mouse, speakers, surge protector, Ethernet cable and other necessary cables.

    Linens and Towels

    • Moving to a university may be an adjustment for students who are used to their parent taking care of their bedding and towels. Once you move into university residence, it's important to have two complete sets of bedding for a single bed, including a fitted sheet, sheet, blankets, comforter and pillowcase. In dorms, it may be difficult to find an opportunity to use the laundry machine, so it's useful to have a second set of bedding. It's also helpful to have two sets of towels, including a bath towel, hand towel and facecloth.

    Other Items

    • It's a given that you'll pack clothing and other personal items. But if you're moving away to Morgan State University, remember to pack an assorted list of other helpful things, including a telephone, bar-style fridge, trash can, fan, hangers, alarm clock, desk lamp, microwave and plastic utensils. Depending on your interests, you can also pack musical instruments, sports equipment or other hobby items.

    Banned Items

    • Morgan State University provides prospective students with a list of items that are not allowed in residence halls. If you're planning to attend the school, make sure you don't bother packing cooking appliances, candles, halogen lights, space heaters, pets or televisions with screens larger than 26 inches. As is the case with any post-secondary institution, items such as drugs and weapons are also banned. If you're under 21, alcohol is also banned.
