Its latest rankings for 2010 show the best performing post-secondary schools in Georgia hardly moving from their former positions.

    • According to the U.S. News and World Report, Emory University ranked 17th, a notch higher than its former spot. This private university in Atlanta is tied with Rice University in Houston and Vanderbilt University in Nashville with a score of 80. It has consistently been on the list for 17 years.

    Georgia Institute of Technology

    • the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta ranked 35th on U.S. News's list, tying with Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania., the University of California--San Diego in La Jolla and the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York with a score of 62. Also known as Georgia Tech, it's ranked 7th among public universities, which is the same spot it has held for the past 2 years.

    • The University of Georgia in Athens ranked 58th on U.S. News's list, tied with Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. It's also ranked 21st among public universities which is a notch down from its position last year.

It encompasses 16 schools and colleges that offer a wide range of courses including new interdisciplinary degree programs.
