Post Secondary Culinary Schools

After graduating from high school or secondary school, graduates have a number of options. They can choose to pursue a traditional post secondary degree such as a bachelor of arts or science degree, or they can choose a job-specific training program. These include post-secondary culinary schools to train as a professional chef.
  1. Art Institute of Colorado

    • The Art Institute of Colorado offers a number of associate's and bachelor's degrees in areas related to the art of cooking and managing cuisine establishments. These include a degree in The Art of Cooking, associate's of applied science degrees in Baking & Pastry and the Culinary Arts, and bachelor of arts degrees in Hospitality Management and Culinary Management. These programs are taught by professionals in the culinary field, and courses include traditional lectures, demonstrations and examinations.

    Faulkner State Community College

    • The Gulf Coast Culinary Institute at Faulkner State Community College allows students to pursue an associate's of applied science or different certificate programs. The programs include course work in both the culinary arts and the managerial side of the business through courses in hotel and motel management. The program advertises that it emphasizes the fundamentals of modern cooking. These include taste, aroma, and the presentation of the dish. The campus itself is located the city of Bay Minette, Alabama.

    Culinard

    • Culinard, The Culinary Arts Institute of Virginia College, offers a Culinary Arts Diploma. This program is an intensive 36-week training program to give students a diversified education in food preparation. This instruction includes real-world experience in the form of an externship with a working chef. The program advertises that graduates will learn not only how to prepare quality cuisine, but also leave with a deeper understanding of the food service industry and the job opportunities it holds, along with a knowledge of, and ability to maintain, the professional standards of the profession.

    Santa Barbara City College

    • The School of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management at Santa Barbara City College offers associate's degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality. The school offers training which places students in real environments to practice and hone what they learn in the classroom. These include training in the College's cafeteria, gourmet dinning room and coffee shop. Additionally, students complete work in their area of expertise in one of Santa Barbara's hospitality sector businesses. As of 2010, the program was able to offer scholarships ranging from $50 to $1,500 every semester.
