Dormitory Colleges in Alabama

Alabama is home to several colleges and universities that enjoy fine reputations, including the University of Alabama and Auburn University. However, there are several other colleges in this Southern state that have student housing on campus, from traditional dorm rooms to apartment-style living for undergraduates and graduate students.
  1. The University of Alabama

    • The University of Alabama is a coed institution in Tuscaloosa that offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral, first professional and post-master's certificate degrees in more than 200 subjects. This 1,000-acre campus has many housing options. They include coed upperclassmen apartments such as Bryce Lawn and The Highlands and Honors housing such as that offered at Lakeside West and Riverside East, North and West. Also included are major-specific Living Learning options such as Bryant Hall, home to male engineering students and Parker Adams, a coed option for arts and science students and freshmen.

    Auburn University

    • Auburn University is a coed public institution in Auburn that offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral, first professional and post-master's certificate degrees through 13 schools and colleges on campus. It is one of the largest universities in the South and as such, offers an array of housing for undergraduate students. The Hill Community houses 12 residence halls, 10 of them co-ed, with gender separation by floor. Leischuck is for freshman females and Hall M for females alone. The Quad has 10 residence halls, including four coed honors housing options and two female freshman residences. Finally, the Village is home to three sorority living options, four coed ones and an honors residence as well. Each unit in the Village has accommodations for four students.

    • Other colleges that have on-campus housing include the University of Alabama Birmingham, The University of Alabama Huntsville, Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, the University of North Alabama, Faulkner University, Stillman College, Samford University, Auburn University Montgomery, Concordia College, Jacksonville State University, Huntingdon College, Judson College, Miles College, Oakwood University, Southeastern Bible College, Talladega College, Spring Hill College, Troy University, University of Mobile, University of Montevallo, University of South Alabama and the University of West Alabama. Housing varies from one institution to the next. In some instances, on-campus housing is required for freshman or for any away-from-home student.
