    • The University of Alabama offers distance-learning degree programs in disciplines such as business, education, engineering, law and nursing. Venues available include online, videoconferencing and DVD coursework. Students who choose online programs can earn a degree over the Internet, while corresponding with teachers through email. The university maintains 30 sites throughout Alabama where students can participate in videoconferencing programs. Videoconferencing programs follow a regular class schedule, and students can interact with teachers in real time through video and audio connections. DVD programs allow students to study from home by watching recorded lectures and programs. Students can choose distance-learning degree programs such as Master of Arts in Management, Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling, Master of Law and Taxation or Bachelor of Science in Nursing, to name a few.

    Columbia Southern University

    • Accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council, Columbia Southern University (CSU) offers online-only certificate, associate, master, bachelor and doctoral programs. Associate's degrees include criminal justice, occupational safety and health and fire science. Bachelor's programs offer degrees in psychology, finance, information technology and hospitality and tourism. Students can earn a master's degree at CSU in health care administration, sports management, public administration and emergency services management. Students transferring from other universities or colleges can transfer up to 50 percent of graduate credits and 75 percent of undergraduate credits. Select courses at CSU are administered through partner programs with Waldorf College, the Chief Brunacini Fire-Rescue Leadership Institute and the University of North Alabama.

    University of North Alabama

    • Founded as LaGrange College in 1830, today the University of North Alabama (UNA) has an enrollment of over 7,000 students. The university offers distance-learning classes and online degree programs in business, nursing and sociology. Classes offered online can include graduate and undergraduate coursework in American history, accounting, education and social work. Registered nurses can earn a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing online and students minoring or majoring in sociology can find all required coursework available in a distance learning program. With the exceptions of finance and accounting, business students can earn a Master's of Business Administration degree in the university's online program. All online coursework is facilitated by UNA faculty members, with whom students can communicate with via email, telephone or postal mail. Distance learning students can enjoy all of the benefits of other enrolled students, including student services and access to the university's library.
