Notary Public Schools in Louisiana

To become a notary in Louisiana, you must be age 18 or older, complete an application and pass a state examination that's given on the first Saturday in June and December each year. (The test is not required if you are a licensed attorney in the state.) Attending an educational course can help you prepare for the test, and there are several resources available in Louisiana.
  1. University of Louisiana at Monroe

    • The University of Louisiana at Monroe offers a continuing education program for the notary exam. Required texts for the course include the "Notary Public Official Study Guide" from the Louisiana Secretary of State. You will also need a current copy of the Louisiana Civil Code. The price of the books is $260 as of Spring 2010, and course registration is $260. The two-hour classes meet two nights a week for three months. Prices and schedules are subject to change.
