The Mechanical Trades Institute offers three apprenticeship programs: heating and air conditioning, plumbing and pipe fitting. All programs take approximately five years to complete and apprentices are required to complete 15 courses in their specific field. Apprentices also complete the required work experience for a United Association Certification in the designated area. Apprentices in all three fields must complete CPR and first aid training.
All of the instructors at the Mechanical Trades Institute gain the Certified Instructor of the United Association by completing the five-year United Association Instructor's Training Program. Apprenticeship applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and show a valid birth certificate, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver's license, pass a drug screening and provide a Work Ready Certification with scores.
