Coursework culminating in an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree trains students for skilled careers. The degree requires completion of 62 or more credits. AAS programs at MCC include Administrative and Office Support, Information Technology, Law Enforcement, Manufacturing Technology and Veterinary Technician.
The Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degrees are geared toward students ultimately intending to transfer into a four-year university and are awarded for programs requiring 62 or more credits. The AS degree emphasizes a greater focus on math and science courses beyond the AA general education requirements. MCC offers specific AA degrees in Criminal Justice, Journalism/Communication and Marketing/Sales/Retailing, among many other courses of study. A specific AS degree is available in Conservation. Several programs at MCC allow the student to choose the degree path, whether AA or AS, depending on the coursework. These programs include Agriculture, Environmental Sciences and Pre-Engineering.
Certificates and diplomas differ in the number of credits required to complete the program. Students receive a Certificate of Completion for programs requiring less than 32 credits. Those who complete programs that require between 31 and 62 credits earn a diploma. Certificate programs at MCC include Accounting Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Horse Science Technology and Logistics. MCC diploma programs include Office Assistant, Farm Management and Practical Nursing.
In addition to traditional classroom-oriented degrees, EICCD offers AA degrees through classes delivered exclusively online for several majors including Business, Education and Political Science. Students may earn credits through MCC or another EICCD member college.
