This technical education university has handed degrees to more than 37,000 students. The university began as Brevard Engineering College in 1958 and moved to the Melbourne campus in 1961. That same year, the university added several buildings, including several student dormitories. Seven new residence halls were built in 2003. Each was named for one of the Space Shuttle Columbia astronauts who died in the shuttle tragedy. More residence halls were constructed in 2008. Originally created to educate professionals working in the space program at Kennedy Space Center, the school today provides a wide range of technical education programs. The school features five different colleges. The College of Engineering, the College of Science, the College of Aeronautics, the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts, and the College of Business are joined by the Office of Strategic Initiatives. The Melbourne campus covers more than 130 acres near the Indian River. Approximately 1,700 students reside on the Melbourne campus. The school requires all freshmen to live on campus. The newest residence halls are three buildings dubbed Harris Village. They feature 382 beds in 111 apartments for sophomores through seniors. The apartments include a full kitchen, living room, and bathroom.

Located in Ocala, Central Florida Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs. The two-year public college offers an Associate of Arts and an Associate in Science degree. The Associate of Arts is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year college. Potential majors include accounting, agribusiness, computer information technology, dental assisting, horticulture and landscaping, nursing, and physical therapy. In most areas, students choose between the two-year associate degree and a certificate program, which takes only one year to complete. The college was established in 1957. The college's foundation owns a group of campus apartments called College Square. The apartments are located adjacent to the campus and provide easy walking to campus buildings. The apartments provide students with a private bedroom and a shared bathroom, living area, and kitchen.

This two-year public technical college provides students with an opportunity to earn an associate degree or certificate. The college operates satellite campuses in several cities, including one in Brandon and another in Plant City. In Tampa, students have the opportunity to reside at Hawks Landing student apartments, which are on the campus of the Dale Mabry campus. The apartments include a shared swimming pool and computer lab. Most apartments are furnished, and each has Wi-Fi throughout the home. Hillsborough Community College offers technical degree programs in areas such as aquaculture, business administration, architectural design, computer engineering, computer information systems, culinary management, digital media, and veterinary technology.
