Cincinnati State Technical & Community College (CTC) is located just west of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. CTC offers a wide range of degree and certificate programs in business, health, humanities, and innovative technology. Within innovative technology studies, students can choose to take a two-year associate program in Automotive Service Management Technology, or a shorter Automotive Service Technician Certificate program. Both programs prepare students to become licensed mechanics; however, the two-year program prepares students for careers in automotive management, as well. To apply, students must submit an application and pay the application fee, have a high school diploma or GED, and take a placement test for mathematics, writing and reading.

Ohio Technical College? (OTC) is located in north Cleveland, Ohio, right off Interstate 90 near the shores of Lake Erie. Among its many programs, OTC offers a comprehensive Automotive Technology program. This 72-week program gives students the knowledge to repair engines and transmissions, suspension and steering systems, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, alternative fuel systems and an array of other mechanical skills. To be admitted to the school, students must have a high school diploma and and pass an admissions test.

Miami-Jacobs Career College Troy Campus is a part of a system of schools under the Miami-Jacobs Career College name. The Troy campus is located north of Dayton in Troy, Ohio. The automotive technician program is only offered at the Troy campus. This program will train students in diagnosing and repairing automobiles in areas such as brakes, transmission, steering and suspension, heating and air conditioning, ignition system, fuel system, exhaust system and engines. The program places a special emphasis on electronic troubleshooting, engine performance, and technical skill, speed, and safety.
