With 2.2 million people living in and around Cleveland, Ohio, the city serves as a commerce center for the state.   1. Ohio Technical College

    • Located in northeastern Cleveland, Ohio Technical College is a private technical college offering programs in automotive, motorcycle, diesel equipment, collision repair, classic car restoration, and other areas. Different tracks are available in each area. For example, the diesel school offers both training for those interested in working on diesel engines, and truck driving school for those interested in obtaining a CDL license and operating a tractor trailer after graduation. The college has 800,000 square feet of space and includes a training center that combines classroom space with a workshop area catering to the need for hands-on education. The college offers both associate degrees and diplomas. The college does not teach general education courses. The school works with Collegiate Housing Services, Inc. to provide student housing at five different locations. All are within 20 minutes of the campus.

    Cleveland Institute of Electronics

    • The institute is located in downtown Cleveland and offers technical degrees in multiple areas. In its computer technology arena, the Cleveland Institute offers an Associate in Applied Science in Software Engineering, and a bachelor's degree in computer information systems. In electronics, the school offers an associate degree in electronic engineering technology. A bachelor's degree is available in the same field. The school's programs place an emphasis on hands-on training, however, some online classes are also available.

    Remington College

    • Remington offers a technical education to more than 6,000 annually from more than one dozen campuses in the United States. One of the campuses is located in the suburban area southeast of Cleveland. The campus offers both degree and diploma programs in several technical fields. Associate degrees are available in business office management, culinary arts, and computer and network administration. Diploma programs are in cosmetology, electronic technology, medical assisting, pharmacy technician, and medical billing and coding. Degree programs are designed for completion in two years. Diploma programs take as little as one year to complete.
