Aviation Technical Schools

The field of aviation offers a wide variety of careers for people with both technical and nontechnical skills. For those people seeking technical training, aviation careers include being a pilot, a mechanic, an engineer, or an air-traffic controller. Nontechnical careers in aviation include business management, technical management and government administration. Some of these positions may require only a technical certificate, while others require either a bachelor’s degree or a graduate-level degree.

      The Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology is a for-profit technical school offering training to become an FAA Certified Airframe and Power-plant Technician (A&P certificate). An aviation mechanic must have an A&P certificate to work on any type of aircraft engine. A full-time student can complete the program in 19 months. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
