The National Academy of Beauty Arts is a local cosmetology and esthetical technical school with three locations, including in St. Louis. Accredited since 1968, today hundreds of students are matriculated at each of the three locations. In less than a year, students are prepared for certification and licensing in cosmetology or esthetics through practical learning experiences such as fashion shows and concerts, guided by experienced beauty professionals. Broadcast Center prepares students for all fields of broadcasting, whether they wish to pursue careers in television, radio, production or marketing. Since 1972, this technical school has specialized in hands-on training, rather than classroom lectures. Enrolled students can choose from programs in broadcast performance and digital audio production and video production, in addition to production-focused tracks in digital video editing and digital audio production, among others. Past graduates of the Broadcast Center have continued on to professional careers at dozens of St. Louis-area television affiliates and radio stations. A relatively small school, the student body typically consists of 200 students.

For more than 100 years, Ranken Technical College has prepared students for certification in more than 100 professional fields. A private institution, Ranken features day and evening classes. Associate programs are offered in fields such as industrial technology, informational technology and carpentry technology during the day, in addition to a certificate program in plumbing and two bachelor's degree options. Evening programs are limited, but include associate program options as well as several two-year and one-year certificate programs, as well as some 18-week courses. Student life at the school is active, and a number of clubs and organizations can be found on campus, including student government and women in technology and automotive clubs.
