Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's only two-year, state-funded technical college. The college is only open to Pennsylvania residents. The college offers 20 majors in different areas including architecture, automotive, carpentry, computer-aided drafting and design, electronics, machine tooling, masonry, plumbing and welding. The college offers a career services office that helps students and alumni with finding jobs and internships as well as crafting resumes and honing job skills.

Harrisburg Area Community College prides itself on its low tuition and small class size. SAT scores are not required and the college provides open enrollment for those over the age of 18, as well as offering dual enrollment classes for high school students. HACC offers classes in computer repair and networking, engineering, computer-aided drafting and design, automotive technology (including a program for certification in General Motors), fire science, construction, industrial maintenance and welding.

The YTI Career Institute has several campuses in Pennsylvania including a Capital Region Campus in Mechanicsburg. This campus offers career education in the fields of computer technology, Internet security, dental assisting, health information technology, massage therapy, medical assisting, medical billing and coding and pharmacy technology. The career services center offers assistance to enrolled students as well as alumni, who enjoy career assistance for their entire lives. The YTI Career Institute helps students to find housing as well as part-time employment while they are attending classes.

The Keystone Technical Institute offers several courses for students in a variety of technical professions. Diploma programs include computer networking, computer-aided design and drafting, massage therapy, medical assisting and paralegal studies. Occupational degree programs also are available for students who would like to complete their studies sooner. A dual enrollment program exists for high school students to receive college credit before they graduate. KTI is an open admissions college that has no application deadlines and allows students to easily transfer all of their credits to either the Devry Institute or the University of Phoenix.
