Auto Mechanic Training Programs

In its 2008-2009 Career Guide to Industries, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted that over 90,000 automotive jobs would be created by 2015--as such, it's little wonder that many seek training in the automotive mechanical industry. As auto engines incorporate computerized components and grow increasingly complex, this lucrative field calls for highly trained technicians. Luckily, specialized schools nationwide offer just such training.
  1. Universal Technical Institute

    • Boasting roughly a dozen campuses across major American cities--from Los Angeles to Chicago to Boston to Orlando--Universal Technical Institute (UTI) touts itself as "the country's premier provider of technician training for students seeking a rewarding career in the automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine industries." The institute's Automotive Technology Training Program utilizes hands-on training and industry standard facilities to train budding technicians in diagnosis, service and repair for foreign and domestic automobiles; the core program spans 51 weeks. Additionally, UTI offers a Diesel and Industrial Technology Training program and a Collision Repair and Refinish Technology Training Program, as well as motorcycle, NASCAR and marine-focused training. Partnerships with BMW, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Volvo provide Manufacturer Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) programs and present graduates with accessible career opportunities.
