Gateway Community College offers both a two-year associate in applied science degree and a certificate of completion in diagnostic medical sonography. This program is designed for allied health care professionals who hold credentials or licenses in the following areas: respiratory therapy, nursing, radiological technology, nuclear medicine technology, cardiac sonography or vascular technology. Coursework includes anatomy and physiology, radiation physics, medical terminology, neurosonography, cardiac and vascular sonography, instrumentation, imaging and clinical training. Graduates may also choose to continue their studies at Northern Arizona University to earn a bachelor of science in health sciences. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Apollo College offers 16-month certificate of completion in diagnostic medical sonography at its Mesa campus location. This program consists of four semesters of theoretical classroom and practical laboratory instruction in anatomy and physiology, abdominal and pelvic sonography, the physics and instrumentation of ultrasound, obstetric and gynecological sonography, safety procedures and patient care. Students also complete a professional internship in a clinical setting.
