Plumbing & Engineering Schools

Plumbing and engineering programs may be offered at community colleges and technical schools, though careers in the latter normally require more advanced study. In addition to rigorous practical training requirements of courses, like Introduction to Welding and Plumbing Technology, plumbing programs may include paid apprenticeships. Alternatively, undergraduate engineering curricula vary among specialties and normally require keen academic study through physics courses, like thermodynamics.
  1. Daytona State College

    • Daytona State College is a public two-year community college in the northern Florida city of Daytona Beach. Established in 1957, in addition to an associate degree, certificate and diploma program, the college also features bachelor degree programs. Students interested in pursuing careers in plumbing can matriculate into the college’s 5-year plumbing apprentice program, which is subsidized by the state, and prepares graduates for careers with commercial and industrial hands-on training. Daytona’s plumbing program also has rigorous laboratory academic requirements. Plumbing students hone math, tubing and welding skills in the classroom. Upon program completion, students receive a certificate and are aptly qualified for entry-level positions in the field within the state of Florida.
