Corrections Officer Programs in Michigan

Also referred to as detention officers, corrections officers supervise individuals who have been arrested or are serving time in a jail, detention facility or penitentiary. In Michigan, a 15-credit certificate or 15 credits of post-secondary coursework is the minimum qualification needed to pursue a career as a corrections officer. A number of schools in Michigan offer certificate, associate degree and bachelor degree programs in corrections. Graduates are prepared to seek employment in public correctional facilities or private-sector security companies.
