South Seattle Community College (SSCC) offers education in the field of aviation maintenance technology. The college's aviation program has been around since the 1930s and has produced graduates capable of working on any type of aircraft in the world. The program last about two years, after which students are fully prepared to take Federal Aviation Administration's Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) exams. The school offers certificates in both of these fields that can be obtained in conjunction with the Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Also, the school offers an aeronautical technology degree. In addition to these programs the school also offers the opportunity to pursue certification as an Avionics Line Maintenance (ALM) Technician, a program focused on the electronic aspects of aviation technology.

Reedley College in California offers an 18-month program leading to an Associate of Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Reedley also offers both the Airframe and Powerplant certificate programs as part of its aviation maintenance program. The college trains students in its 22,000-square-foot facility that is fully stocked with its own fleet of planes and helicopters. Students must complete 70 credit hours in the field to obtain the associate's degree. A minimal investment of $2,450 provides students everything they need to complete the 18-month program (as of the 2010-2011 academic school year).

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is regularly recognized by top publications like U.S. News & World Report for its various programs in aviation technology and engineering. Embry-Riddle offers the A&P certificate programs, along with associate's and bachelor's degrees in aviation maintenance science. The school also offers the line maintenance technician program.
The associate's degree program requires 66 credit hours in the field, while the bachelor's degree program requires 138 credit hours.
